About Troop 424
Rooted in our community since 1940, Troop 424 is a Scout-led Family Troop where boys and girls discover adventure, practice leadership, and learn by doing.
A tradition of Scouting since 1940.
Founded in 1940, Troop 424 has a long history in Merrimack, New Hampshire. We are chartered by Nashua Fish & Game and welcome both boys and girls as a Family Troop.
Our program brings together outdoor adventure, youth leadership, personal growth, and service to others.
Scout-led. Adventure-driven.
At Troop 424, Scouts take an active role in leading their own experience. Through regular Patrol Leaders’ Council (PLC) meetings, Scouts plan troop meetings, choose activities, and organize campouts.
Adult leaders provide guidance, mentorship, and support while giving Scouts room to make decisions, solve problems, and grow as leaders.
Learning beyond the meeting room.
We typically aim for one campout each month, giving Scouts opportunities to explore the outdoors, practice skills, build friendships, and gain confidence.
Every year, Troop 424 also participates in a week-long Scout summer camp. The week includes outdoor experiences and opportunities to work on rank requirements and merit badges, alongside time for teamwork, independence, and fun.
Giving back is part of the adventure.
Service is an important part of Scouting at Troop 424. Our Scouts participate in Scouting for Food, conservation projects, and Eagle Scout service projects.
These experiences help Scouts see the difference they can make through teamwork, responsibility, and service to their community.
Scout-led, family-supported.
Troop 424 is supported by an active Troop Committee, adult volunteers, and engaged parents. Together, they provide the resources and guidance that help our Scouts carry out their plans.
Troop Committee and parent meetings take place on the first Wednesday of every month at 8:00 PM. All parents are welcome, whether or not they are registered adult volunteers. It's an opportunity to stay informed, share ideas, and help strengthen the Troop.
